Summer Solstice Strawberry Moon 2016

Standard

The Summer Solstice, officially the first day of Summer and longest day of the year, coincides with the Strawberry Moon. The Strawberry moon was given its name (according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac), by the Algonquin Tribe because it occurs at the height of strawberry harvest. This is Once – in- a- Generation event! The last one occurred in June 1967, The Summer of Love.

I had the opportunity to photograph the sun set and the moon rise from my rooftop in Queens. It was a very moving and beautiful experience. I hope that you enjoy the photos! Happy Solstice!
