Mother Nature Headpiece
Why buy another unimaginative and generic Halloween costume this year? Feeling creative? Heat up your glue gun and imagination and get inspired to be original! Replicate the best you and have the greatest Halloween ever.
I decided to be Mother Nature this year. My inspiration started with an emerald green wig and a trip to Michael’s to do some silk flower shopping. This is the beginnings of my outfit. The dress from Amazon is on its way and I will continue to floralize my outfit!

When your coworker and best friend asks you if you would like to join him as a chef’s assistant on a cooking job on a private island off the coast of Maine, what do you do? You pack a bag with an apron and go!
On any given day, Chef Paco cooks breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a group of twelve. Some of the highlights of his menu were : roasted farm raised chicken, marinated lamb with wilted greens, Maine lobster with farm churned butter, and an assortment of delicious vegetable based salads picked from the garden. Some of the meals were served beachside picnic style, grilling over a fire pit in the sand. I got to put my baking skills to use, and learned many helpful hints from Chef Paco to make the most of my sweets. Banana bread, carrot muffins, spiced currant cookies, and hazelnut mousse were just a few of my desserts on the menu.
When we had a moment away from the kitchen, hikes through the island and beach trips were our delight! Walking through the forest of spruce trees, moss lined paths brimming with ferns, and picturesque ponds made for a relaxing getaway.
When all was said and done, we had many standing ovations for the meals that Chef Paco put together. His cooking skills, charm, and wonderful energy are the perfect recipe for anyone’s dinner table! Thank you for the experience and all of the cooking lessons!
“Here is our inspirational floral design for Perrier-Jouet’s debut of Bell Epoch champagne. The velvety organic foliage spoils our guests in luxury while brilliant white peonies offer a splash of surprise much like the complexity of champagne itself. The table displays are adorned with seasonal hosta leaves, umbrella fern, dianthus, and the blossoming peonies. Working with the relaxed pool atmosphere the floral design completes the ambiance offering our guests a completely intimate and stylish venue perfect for showcasing the bubbles. Many thanks to our floral design team Nsombi Woodson and Gabriel Marquez for contributing to the event’s success!”
A friend of mine asked me how I got the name Dawn. My reply was “After the Dawn Dolls of the 70’s, of course”! He had no idea what I was talking about, so I Google Imaged a few pics of Dawn and he Wikipediad some info on her. WOW, the correlations that we unearthed between the doll and myself! It was startling and hysterical at the same time! Did my Mom have any idea how my life would emulate that of a spin off of Barbie?
Dawn was a smaller and more affordable version of Barbie produced by Topper Toys. She came with varying themes, “Dancing Dawn” and “Flower Fantasy Dawn” to name a few. She was obsessed with her friends, fashion, and Disco dancing. Being quite progressive for her time, she had a wide range of flamboyant and colorful friends. They had a runway that you could purchase for Dawn’s Beauty Pageant. When Dawn and Friends were bored with The Runway, they had a Dawn’s Beauty Parlor! After the Beauty Parlor, they could all pile into Dawn’s Action Car, a blue convertible. Off into the night they would speed to Dawn’s Revolving Dance Floor Disco Set! All of her fabulous trendy friends would dance the night away. She even had a super cool dance partner named Kevin, who was tall and blond!
Sadly, Topper Toys went out of business in 1973. A few attempts were given at bringing Dawn Dolls back, but it didn’t seem to take off. However; Dawn Dolls are quite the collector’s item!
I can’t help but smile really big when I think about my life emulating Dawn’s! My love of my dear friends, fashion, and Disco…… what’s in a name??? Ask my Mom, she’ll tell you!
